Help with The Box PVR

I am reading the forms on here and just myself even more confused. I have just purchased The Box PVR with a preloaded image, all was working fine until my brother looked at it and now all the locked channels are not being shown, even emu is turned on.

The system information states E_Ver 4.506, 15 Oct 2007.

I have tried a rescan of channels but the provider keeps changing from NTL to TW and wont stay on NTL. Sometimes a rescan finds all the channels, sometimes it only finds a few.

Also I am confused whether I have a clone or not as my box has 16 slots on top, not the 18 or 25 as in other posts.

If I do have a clone, do I need different software to load a new image on, if so what, and what image is the best one.

Also do you have to have a null cable or can you do it through usb?

Sorry for all the questions but my kids are driving me mad they can't watch nick jr lol.
