Okay, here is my situation: I work nights, and have enough free time that I can watch my TV shows while I'm there. For the last year I've had Comcast cable, and I've been using 2 Tivo boxes with Tivo Desktop to take my recordings to work with me on a USB drive. I have just moved to a new address, and Comcast will not give me service unless I pay $3k for them to run the lines out to me...No thanks! So I now have Dish Network, which does not work with new Tivos, and from what I understand, had very limited compatibility with the older Tivos. Before I got the Tivos, I was using a Sandisk V-mate, which is a memory card reader that connects to a video source and basically works like a VCR. It will record in real-time onto an SD card, or basically any other memory card type. The picture wasn't that great, and the output file was Quicktime, but it was passable. The simple solution would be for me to start using the v-mate again, but the problem is that I sold it to a co-worker about 3 months ago, and now I can't find one for a decent price (originally bought for $25 from Geeks). Does anyone have any solutions for me? I don't care much about the picture quality. I'll be watching my shows on a 19" monitor connected to a business computer, so HD or SD really won't make that much of a difference. I also don't have any internet at home, and can't get anything other than dial-up. So Slingboxes and other internet-based technologies won't work for me either. Any ideas?
