Rip from Bell HD PVR?

I have a Bell HD PVR and I was wondering if there was any way to rip media off of it onto my computer or onto a DVD without opening it up? (My unit is rented). I know you can get an external harddrive for it, but my understanding is that the external hard drive would be mated to the PVR and unusable with my computer. There is a usb port on the front of the PVR (presumabley for connecting an external hard drive) and of course, all the standard connection cables on the back. Is there some sort of software for doing this?
