Transferring videos TO Tivo?

Hi guys,

I have some questions about transferring video from a PC to a Tivo HD using the Tivo desktop software. Although I have just about every codec under the sun installed (K-Lite) it still seems like the variety of formats, and codecs supported is pretty pathetic.

I am trying to transfer over video from my PC to the Tivo to use it as a video jukebox. I have several utilities, but I'm not 100% sure which formats are supported by Tivo. Invariably after waiting a few hours to convert something, it either won't transfer at all, or won't play properly.

I am trying to convert it to either 720 or 1080 16:9 using Imtoo Mpeg Encoder. Any ideas on which formats I should try to convert it to? Any help would be appreciated.

Tivo support is useless. They don't seem to have any in depth knowledge about transferring or converting video, or even some of the functions of their own software. The desktop software itself seems to be pretty slopily written. I'm ashamed to say I actually paid for $25 it.
