DV-HR300S SHARP - Problems...

I have recently aquired this sharp, and so far very happy with it.
However I have a few problems, which might just be stupidity from my part. I am not a nerd ( lol ), and to be honorst.. I don't know much about all of this.

I have no problems recording to the HDD from analog tv signal, but when I try record from digital nothing happens.
When the HDD tunes, it locates a range of 15 analog tv channels, but none digital channels. I have about 40 digital channels. I can view the digital channels on the tv, but not through the sharp. What is the problem? Can someone help me please?

Is it cables, do I need to switch a setting from analog to digital in the setup somewhere ???

Any help is much appriciated!
