My old LG RH255 is now broken due to optical unit failure. But hard disk is still working, and I want to save some videos.

I connected the hard disk to PC using USB/IDE cable: Windows XP sees the HD, but can't handle it, so I had to "rip" the disk content into a raw image file (image.dd) by using TestDisk for Windows.
Then I used Photorec on the image to extract files, and it quite succeeded: now I have some huge MPEG files (up to 3 GBs), but each one of them contains dozens of different clips from different movies! It's a mess.
I guess somewhere in the disk there should be a "chunks allocation table" or something like that..... but where? I can clearly see in the disk image where each MPEG chunk starts end ends, but how to know how to properly connect them?!?

I read that the filesystem on the disk should be "vxext fs" from "VxWorks" operating system; any info about this? Do they exist Windows programs able to access such a filesystem?
