I put a new Taiyo Yuden DVD-R into my Pansonic DVD Recorder. I get a blue screen that tells me "This Disc Is Incompatible", then the screen goes black, the Panasonic simply displays L1.

I hit the Power Button, and the Display says "Bye", and the Panasonic shuts down. I hit the Power Button again, and the DVD Recorder powers backs on, Reads the dvd which is still in there, and then displays R2:00. At that point I am able to record normally, without incident (although one recording appeared to have some yips - pauses for like a microsecond throughout the playback).

I haven't seen this exact issue on any of the Panasonic Forums, though when reading about similar issues, the two remedies most recommended are Firmware, and a Lens Cleanse, neither of which I have ever tried.

Anyone have any suggestions as to which of the two options might be more suitable, or if there might be a totally different solution?

Thanks.
