recorder not getting higher cable channels

I just purchased a toshiba dvd recorder model dr 570, I can not
get it to see any of the upper cable channels above channel 74.
heres all the info.....dvd recorder toshiba dr570 with tuner,
cable box motorola dct 6200, tv vizio lcd hd model vo320 e .
I have tried using the 5 plug rca cables, S video cable, basically
I have hooked this thing up in just about every configuration i can think of and still can not get it to see the upper cable channels so
i can record programs without having to have to watch them on the tv at the same time. which kinda defeats the purpose ya know,
Im at my wits end ,any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
