Hi. After some help. I'm just trying to backup some DVD's using the old AXXO process to xvid. I've loaded the VOB files using DVD decrypter no problems. Then merged the VOB files with Vobmerge. Loaded the merged vobfiles in the mpeg format into Auto GK for ripping to 700mg target and the process seems to freeze at 99% of the vitual dub mod dubbing. The AutoGK log is [5/5/2013 8:34:25 AM] AutoGK 2.55
[5/5/2013 8:34:25 AM] OS: WinXP (5.1.2600).2
[5/5/2013 8:34:25 AM] Job started.
[5/5/2013 8:34:25 AM] Input file: H:\DEFAULTPAL_SCN\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.mpeg

[5/5/2013 8:35:44 AM] Found PAL source.
[5/5/2013 8:35:44 AM] Source aspect ratio: 4:3
[5/5/2013 8:35:44 AM] Analyzing source.

Any help would be much appreciated. Virtual dubmod gets to 99% pretty quickly and says dub still in process but its been hours and the current video frame is 6696/6696 and video data is 314kb of a projected 316kb at a rate of 2kb/s??

Your original source files are DVD files, right?
They are in a VIDEO_TS folder containing VOB, IFO, BUP files?
Then select VTS_01_0.IFO as the input.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes. Original are DVD files. Yep with the Video TS folder and I selected the VTS_01_0.IFO as the input. At that point Auto GK asked which PGC I wanted in a drop down menu. There were 3 and I just chose the first that appeared(below) is this correct?

MPEG2 720x576 PAL 4:3 PGC 1. Length: 0:00:10:00

Virtual dub mod stalled at 99%

So I tried merging the Vob files instead and still got the 99% stall.

I updated my codex to the most recent K lite pack...hasnt made a difference either.

I'm new to ripping but I'm happy to use any method to get down to a compressed AVI without too much quality loss.

Thanks again for the help!

AGK uses it's own version of the XviD codec, so the codec pack isn't relevant.

Quote:
PGC 1. Length: 0:00:10:00
That's indicating that the Title associated with VTS_01 is ten seconds running time - which is obviously wrong..
Newbie's can't post links but if you omit the h in http maybe you can show the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder.
In this example it's obvious that VTS_06 is the one to select.

Ok I found the VTS that was 45 mins which is what the movie is and selected that one when the PGC prompt came up.

No luck. Still got the dreaded 99% freeze on the virtualdubmod dubbing process.

Try using StaxRip instead.
It's similar to AGK inasmuch as it uses VirtualDubMod.
Here's a guide link.
Basically select a template and load the source.

Another is Any Video Converter - I don't rate it as good.

XMedia Recode, uses FFMpeg.
