Hello,
So after searching around and trying all kinds of things with no luck, I thought I would just ask you guys for some advice. I'm trying to backup the spirit dvd and am having troubles, so here is what I have done and what is going on so far.
Started using dvdshrink 3.2. After a while I would get a data error, cyclic redundancy check error. (Which could supposedly be bad sectors, that are there for copy protection?). So I try using dvdclone to copy the whole thing to harddrive, then use dvdshrink on those files... get same error. So I download and install anydvd 6.5.7.1 and have it running in background. Try dvdshrink again, this time it analizes everything properly, but when I click "backup" to begin the copying and encoding process, the program locks up, everytime. So I go back into dvdclone, when the program won't even open anymore while anydvd is running. So I uninstall anydvd, and install dvd43 (which is essentially similar to anydvd). Go back into dvdshrink, starts the encoding process like normal, but halfway through the process I get "out of memory" errors. Well there is plenty of memory so I'm assuming this is another form of copy protection that neither of the programs are removing? So I download dvddecrypter and try that (with dvd43 running in background). Well almost immediatly I get errors saying there are bad sectors on the dvd. So after some more reading I see that I need to check "ignore read errors", and set the retry from 20 down to 2 (granted someone said that it will be very slow working through all the bad sectors). So now I start the decrypter over again, and so far its been running for 25 hours, has only transfered about 25mb of the total 7,500mb, and is still only at 1% completed. So obviously this is not working and I'm kind of stuck on how to get past these issues.
Anyways thanks for reading, and any help is greatly appreaciated!

The latest version of AnyDVD is 6.5.8.7! That one may get it done, and if not there is a Beta version available even if you are on the 21 day trial period. you may download that here: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=34587
DVD43 is not really updated, and it does not even come close to AnyDVD. You may rip directly to your HDD from AnyDVD by right clicking the fox head in the task bar.
You are correct that DVDShrink is not updated, nor is DVDDecrypter updated any longer. However, there is a free version of DVDFab 6 always available to try. You will only be able to rip the file with the free version of DVDFab. If you want to continue to clean the movie more you may use VobBlanker, DVDShrink (a little clean up), or CloneDVD2 (a little clean up).
Hope that gets you set up. :)
EDIT: Forgot to give you the link to DVDFab! It is in my sig as well, but many people do not notice that. http://dvdfab.com/free.htm
We already have an existing Spirit thread ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/761587 and it seems all that's needed is DVDfab which you can get via the link provided by syxguns. Any further problems (there shouldn't be), please use the above thread.
