Compressing Ripped DVD's

Ok. So I am looking to back up some DVD's I already own onto my external hard drive via my laptop so I can take them to college without all the space waste of DVD's. I already have RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink. I have already figured out how to shrink DL DVD's to the size of a single layer but I want to compress them even more to say 1500-2000mb just like the ones I find on ISOhunt.com. I am not to worried about quality considering they will be played on my laptop or a small flat screen. How do I do this?

Rip with dvdfab decrypter,

Process with vobblanker/fixvts,

You can use either autogk or handbrake to convert the results to avi and compress down to around 1500mb.

"All the space waste"? You can fit 100 discs in a tiny wallet. Dorms rooms surely haven't shrunk since I was in college.

I guess so.
