My computer is really slow from what i would guess is ripping and burning with ripit4me and fixvts. i did create a folder to put movies into, and delete them when i was done with. what i don't know is if the files that are being ripped and put in this folder are being put somewhere else i don't know of (i've burned about 6 movies). I'm not someone who knows very much about these programs. I was just walked through the process on how to use ripit4me, fixvts, and nero recode to burn movies. i do delete the files being ripped so they don't take so much memory... ...any help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like there are two things going on;

a) you've got loads of files saved on your hard drive which you don't want... but this wont slow the PC down unless it gets really fragmented or really, really full to capacity

b) your pc is struggling with the ripping process itself. If you have a slow (old) pc then any recoding tasks such as these will take a number of hours sometimes. If processor speeds and RAM amount is low then this will be the real culprit.

So, what spec PC are you using? (check out 'control panel' and then 'system' tabs)

And, have a look in the 'my documents' folders for the 'nero' files to be deleted and, c:drive/ documents and settings/ owners name or pc name/ for the fixVTS and RipItForMe files to be deleted. You'll need to enable the 'hidden folders' sometimes to find this.

Also, maybe worth searching for large files, temp files or even defragmenting your PC is you are having problems. All these programs give you a choice of where to put any temp files. I'd put them all together and then in future it's easier to de-clutter.

Also:

RipIt4me is and old Analizer and linker of DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink all together.

The last time RipIt4me have an up-date was on 2007 and can't handle new encryption of some New Movies very well. That's why some time it take forever to rip a DVD. An Average Rip is around 11 minutes to close to 1 hr. at the most today.

If it take you longer....just select others ways to rip the DVD like using DVDFab or Any DVD; some time even using DVD Shrink as a ripper or DVD Decrypter alone or use other Rip Programs like DVD43 or 1 Click DVD 5, etc. (New version work alot better).

Note: Star Using "CCleaner" often to clean your PC out of Crap you may have there. And after you back-up your Movies, Clean all your Videos Files, etc since Video takes alot of room from your PC Drive etc. and may make the PC to work slow or be stack on new proyect's all together.

I hope this may help you.
Good Luck.

thanks for your replies! one thing i did do was defragment my hard drive. i also compressed some files, and it didn't do much on making my computer faster. i'm not very knowledgeable on computers,so i tried to delete some programs or files. i think i might of deleted a program or programs that were connected with windows xp and now when i double click on a program it seems to pop up a few windows before actually starting the program. I'm wondering if i delete everything on the hard drive and somehow start over, if that would work at all, would that help me? I'm sure i'm pretty screwed by now but any help is appreciated! It's a Dell tower about 4 yrs old.

Start Using CCleaner program and it will work and do many wonders for you !
The Pay Version is alot better !
Tick every box on your "Windows" EXCEPT "Wipe Free Space" and Run It !

System Restore will help you too, like Berryone say.

One thing you need to keep in mind:
When you turn 'ON' your PC; Many programs Open Automaticly, The more programs are open and "Active" the Slower your PC will be.

Hope this may help.
