DVD over 50GB??

I am trying to backup the DVD UP prior to handing it over to the hands of my daughter, however none of my usual software are able to rip the disk. I have tried DVD Fab, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and Free DVD and all are unable to access the DVD. When I look at the disk contents, there are many VOB files that are 1 GB in size and when I check the size on the disk, it is readin that the disk is over 50GB.... This is not a Blu Ray, but just a standard DVD, so I do not understand how it is reporting that the dik is over 50 GB. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!
