DVD to AVI with same format

I am planning on putting my DVDs onto my HDD to play on my PS2.
What program can output a DVD in the same quality when you convert it to AVI? I have tried AVS4YOU, and it came out all distorted like.
Do I need to select a proper format for the exact output as the input?

You cannot convert a DVD to AVI and retain "the same" quality. With any conversion, there will be quality loss. If you want to minimize the loss, choose a higher bitrate for your AVI.
I would use AutoGK to convert, and choose the size of the AVI around 1GB, it should give you a good quality.

I have resorted to downloading what i have because they come out exactly the same format as it would on a DVD, but they would say the title of the file DivX.avi.
I will try AutoGK and see how it does.

Try SPAM converter. It's give you change video size, bit rate, frame rate, audio/video codec, sample rate, etc.
