DVD To Hardrive - What Format

Hi, very new to all this but this weekend I wanted to copy a DVD to my laptop as I have to travel and be away for some days at a time.

I have the Majic DVD Ripper and everything is fine until I have to select the format that I would like to save the copy in, the options VCD, SVCD, AVI(Xvid, DivX), WMV, MP3, MPEG2, MP4.

What is the best format to use ?

I use avi divx, never had an issue with it.

What kind of DVD? On most DVDs I use DVD Decrypter and store the .iso that can be used in various ways later. Some players can play it directly, but it can be mounted to appear like a DVD.
