Hey gang,
I ripped a VHS tape to my laptop using the Easycap (a ridiculous name unless you were the developer!)after hours of playing with the settings. Anyway, not to bore, I'm now burning my finished movie to DVD and have a couple of questions from someone with more than the two brain cells I have left after battling with this handy, but very unfriendly capture device.
First, should I be burning it using something like DVDFab? I'm just using the DVD software that came with my Vista Laptop? I should mention it's Casper the Friendly Ghost, a commercial VHS (I own it)and I don't know if 15 year old tapes are encoded. Second, should I have used the compression option? I think it's almost 4.5 gigs, my disc has been burning for about 30 min and only at 19%, seems awfully slow? Any help you might offer this novice, albeit a loyal Afterdawn fan would be greatly appreciated. At this rate, my son will be showing Casper to his son by the time I get to the end! Many thanks in advance from my little man and myself.
Have a great holiday weekend!

Oh, and here's a couple of tricks for you Easycap users to save you countless hours. Shut off your firewall while first initializing your rip and the best tip, the Easycap comes with a USB extension, remove that and plug it directly into your PC and POW! Video picture comes up in place of the dreaded wavy lines or black screen!
I always give back with my 1.5 cents
