I want to rip multiple videos from a dvd into one big avi(xvid) so that they play consecutively with no breaks. I've tried ripping with dvd shrink and then use a VOB joiner. It works pretty well but the beginning of the second video always gets a small portion ( maybe 8-10 sec) cut off. Usually, I use AutoGK to encode to xvid but it can only handle one VOB at a time... i think. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

DVD Shrink, select 'Re-author'.
Drag each episode that you want from right to left side of window.
Click 'Backup' and save to a new folder.
Run VobMerge, select the files (make sure they are in the correct order).
Save the new merged file to the same folder as the source files - give it a name like large.vob
In AGK, select large.vob

As an integrity check of VobMerge, you can load the merged file into the likes of AviDemux and scroll through to verify that it's all present.

thanks attar... but I'm still left with the same problem. I used VOBmerge, however, the second video is missing several seconds at the beginning. Why does this happen? Is there any way to fix it?

It shouldn't happen.
I joined two Simpsons episodes recently from the second season DVD using these steps.
Try ripping the disk with the free, DVDFab HD Decrypter, then use DVD Shrink to select the episodes, etc.

ldurepos... which dvd ripper do you use? I'm kinda new to "ripping" dvds. most of the time I would just use some 1click program, but the quality never came close to Auto GK. Could you explain further.. or point me in the right direction. I don't really know how to use virtualdub.. what is append? haha sorry for the noobism.

no worry mate, yes I can take 5 mins to redirect you to some links and explain to you a bit better the process to go through...
Xilisoft:

VirtualDub:

1-I use Xilisoft DVD Ripper as my Ripper on my main PC.
(There's probabbly Cracked software around ;-) )
setting I use:
--Resolution: Full (IE:720x480 or 640x480)
--Codecs: Xvid
--Video: 1350kbps
--Audio: 224kbps (AC3)
--FPS: 29.97 usually
**I make sure that the box synch audio/video is checked
2-Using VirtualDub
--Just follow the above link it will be alot easier.
EXTRA, you can also crop or do pretty much any video editing vith virtualdub but you would need more explanation for that. Afterdawn have a lot of tutorial regading that complex but easy to use freeware (Simply google you request)
