losing picture quality with dvd shrink?

just wondering,seems if the movie is to big for your standard 4.7 gb disk and had to shrink it you would lose pic quality.and if i use dual layer would that be better seems as i would not need dvd shrink?
i really new at this so be easy lol,thanks

It's still a good idea to load the ripped files into DVD Shrink - just to verify that they are DVD compliant.
You can reset the Preferences to reflect the new disk capacity and you still have the option of removing trailers and such.

As long as you use Verbatim+R DL disks and burn the files using ImgBurn and as long as your standalone can play +R DL disks.. then you should be ok.

I see that Attar gave you some excellent advice, just a little more info regarding shedding unwanted stuff from a DVD. Often times removing the trailers, directors comments, secondary languages and annoying other features will allow you to have a 90% or higher compression score. If you have a super big TV you'll notice compression at around 85%. Feel free to experiment by taking out all of the extras and casting out the extra audio channels (2 channel audio and other languages that you are not interested in) subtitles, etc. just keep the movie only. I hope this helps.
