Hello,

After ripping a DVD in an ISO format. There is a file name MDS along with the movie file. Do i need to keep this file (MDS) or can i just delete it?

Thank you,
Kyguth

The likes of DVD Decrypter creates an MDS file (media descriptor?) with an ISO.

If the ISO was an image of a DL disk and you wanted to burn it to a DL disk, then programs like ImgBurn require the MDS file to get the layer information (which is not available in the iso).

If the original disk was being ripped to a FAT32 drive (where a single file is limited to 4GB) then more than one image file is created and the MDS file is again required to tie the multiple files together and burn the disk.

If DVD Shrink wants to open these images from a FAT32 drive, it will use the MDS file instead.
