For video to DVD converter , the French software VSO ConvertXToDVD seems to be the undisputed King of the heap . How's about DVD ripping ? Is there an undisputed Queen out there ? Please recommend the best program in your view . Thanks

Thanks for the comment . Is there a globally favotite program that rips a DVD straight to .avi or to other popular video formats ? All the programs you mentioned just rip a DVD to .vob files only ! Then another conversion program is needed to convert them to video formats.

can i ask somethin???
would it be possable to recode to mpg/avi:divx.
automaticly?
what i am trying to do is setup standalone pcs/servers(no monitor ,kb mouse. remote console access from another pc.)
to backup my entire collection, from dvdr to a format easier to play on a mediacenter/ media player.
tha reason for all of this? 6000 dvds +6 old pcs +1 good pc + nas storage + router/port switch+ new dvds arriving everyday.-time & work
taking time from my sidework = a huge project with no time to do it.
alot of my dvds are unique, & irreplaceable. so backups are nessery.
but other projects are demanding my attention now.
so a solution has come up : automate the process or find another solution.
