I've begun the arduous task of ripping my concert dvds to a hard drive connected to a media player, connected to a tv. Some of my concerts are on 2 discs, so I was thinking this could be a good opportunity to merge those into one file so there's no disc change/file change in the middle of the concert. Just wondering the best way to do that, to maintain audio and video quality, even if I have to cobble together my own new menus(though if I can keep old ones and merge them too, even better). The media player can play pretty much any type of file I can throw at it. Can two discs be merged into one file somehow(I know it sounds unlikely) or am I just making the songs into individual files and making that into one big ass file? If so, what do you folks recommend as my best file type for maintaining quality?

Joining i'll leave to who knows better how too without sync issues, you've sorta thrown a curve ball with wanting menu it'd be much simpler to rip the concert with whatever audio streams then either rename the video_ts folder to say "Rammstein Volker ball cd2" & the second to "Rammstein Volker ball cd2" then place both folders into another folder called obviously "Rammstein Volker ball" or if you have mp4 or mkv then just name both files as above but just create one folder called "Rammstein Volker ball" to place them in,at this stage your like wtf,it's real simple XBMC will take care of the rest once you select "stack" this will tell xbmc to play cd1 & cd2 as one file, plus you get the bonus of the cover art n stuff as well as any info it can scrape, yeah well anyway that's how i do it & using mp4 or mkv means you keep chapter markers intact

moovida is another media player similar to xbmc both are installer or portable however xbmc can also be installed as a dual boot OS or as a boot from usb

I never knew I could keep chapter markers when using mp4 or mkv. That changes everything. BTW awesome that you used Volkerball as your example. Great concert.
