ripping protected dvd movies to hard drive

I was dvdfab5 & dvdfab6 to copy movies, but what is the best software to rip them so they can be played from my harddrive?

DvdFab and Anydvd are the top 2 programs to rip.

What size and format are you looking for to keep the movies on your hard drive?

vob files that I can play with windvd. 4 gig is no problem as far as siz4e, I just want the movie, no extra or trailers. thanks for the reply rtm27.

DvdFab has a main movie funciton to just rip the main movie only...no trailers, no extras, just the movie.

Running Anydvd in the background, you can use dvd shrink to select movie only.....since I don't have anydvd I can't tell you if it has a main movie function to just rip the main movie.

You can also use a program like autogk to convert the movie to an avi format, and shrink the size to around 1.5GB.

Jegrnick... Dvdfab 6 gives you the option to rip the files as if you were playing them on a mobile device like ipod, iphone or the zune. They have more options. The ipod/iphone format would be a mpeg-4 file which I believe is mp4 and the zune format would be in wmv format which should definately play with windows media player. But the thing is... It may be very time consuming but they should both clear up a lot of space. Let me know if this helps.

cd has line "do not copy" and i think it said css/cms
any ideas to help rip
