No sound

my prob is as follows, any help would be grateful.

I have a video.ts folder inside which are 17 vobs, if I play the video.ts folder with vlc everything is perfect.

I have the k-lite codec pack installed.

I wanted to make 1 single xvid or divx file from this video.ts folder using winavi. Having read a recent question about doing this I have found the following problem.

There are 4 options in winavi which are as follows
xvid 640x mp3 128
xvid 512x mp3 128
divx hd 720 192
divx hd 1280 224

I have converted with all 4 of thes options and though the picture is absolutely perfect the sound has disappeared.

any help appreciated thank you.

I use either autogk or handbrake to convert vob to avi.
