Hello Guys, I Dont Know where to begin, i got a brand new built computer in january 2009, and all has been fantastic with speed and all, i am able to back up dvd movies in under 20 minutes with shrink or clone dvd2. all was perfect this past Wenesday morning, i went away came home and went to back up a film for my son to take to his room from my collection and what usually took 20 minutes, was now taking 70. As the movie was reading it started out at 8 minutes then continued to climb to 56 minutes the final out come was 80 minutes for a 90 minute movie and this have not been the same since. all my devices are working properly, but when ever i start doing something, defrag, clone, the comp just stops working and i cant even bootdown, i have to hold the power button in just to turn it off, it starts shutting down then get stuck just like with anything i do. I also cleaned with the ccleaner, registery is fine, no virus, i just cant under stand what could have stopped working for me ? Ram? Memory? Possessor ? could someone maybe start to help me in the right direction? thanks alot guys.
i did that to, and it still does it, could have the update changed a setting? i cant do nothing on the computer but surf the net. any thing else causes it to just freeze. even watching a movie. cant even defrag? It goes a little further each time on the defrag, then i got to rebot. even running avg it goes so far then runs out of gas ?
Is your cpu running at 100 percent even with no programs in the background?
I had something similar with windows xp. It was cause by my onboard audio card. I installed a PCI audio card (cost me 10.00) and the problem went away. For some reason the onboard audio was causing the cpu to run at 100 percent, this slow the entire computer down.
If you can't find a software problem you might have to look at the hardware. In my case the problem started slowly and then over several months slowed the computer to being unusable. It was by luck that I discovered the audio card as the culprit (sound was sometimes not working during bootup).
