Connecting a DVR to Computer

I have a used Pelco DX 4000 DVR I would like to connect to my computer to use to store & play music files. Questions I have are:

1) Is is possible to store and play music files from a CCTV DVR? (Has Windows installed & has a sound card)?

2) Can/Should I connect the DVR directly to my desktop hard-drive or use a KVM switch and keep the drives separate?
