i have a verbatim 500gb external hard drive i dropped it and now it turns on and starts up as normal but the computer doesnt recognise it is there any way to recover the data that i have stored on it as there are a lot of pictures and home movies

I got a long way recently with photorec.. recovered almost everything from a corrupt fatx partition .. impressed much :)
