No I don't think I do.
I have a couple external hds in enclosures. I copied the files I didn't want to lose from my C: to slave D: (another internal HD) using bartpe.
I have one of those ide/sata to usb kits.
I'm up for trying anything that might fix the problem (I'm afraid at this point I need to try to kill viruses or check if its a hardware failure).
I'm just hoping I can get windows xp pro sp3 from my college and hopefully a clean install of that will fix my computer.
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

If you have externals, then plug them in, turn them on, and boot the system to barttools again. Copy everything you want to keep to the externals, then wipe the internals clean and start with a fresh windows install.
Personaly, I prefer windows 7 x64 to windows xp sp3...but then I don't realy have any choice...XP86 can't handle partitions over 2TB or ram over 4GB, and XP64 made Vista's compatability issues seem insignificant. If you can't find a disk around, but you do have a license, then just go online and download an ISO. Microsoft is not selling the software disk; they are selling the licenses...so it is technicaly legal to download an ISO for a version of Windows that you have a license for.

Big Question:
1. If I install a clean verison of windows, you mean BOTH internal HDs (master and slave), will be wiped clean?!
I thought my slave would be left untouched. If this is the case, I better try to copy files to an external HD.
I tried last time, but bartpe didn't see the external HD.
I'm downloading my iso of windows xp pro sp3 from my college now.
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

boot puppy linux from cd.. accesses ntfs drives with ease.. can also be used to partition/format a spare hdd to use as a data backup location... do it all the time. It will see every drive you have connected.. as long as they are working.
Then what I do is delete the contents of C:\windoze and any odd junk hanging about on the root of C: .. like config.sys ..
It's then a simple matter of leaving the format of the drive alone (keep existing filesystem) and reinstalling windoze.. Works well if you have about 4 gigs free

I got all the data off my computer onto an external hd using bartpe.
I just burned my windows xp cd.
I unplugged my slave so it will unaffected by the install and hope it is recognized after xp pro is installed to my C:.
Ok, it sees my c: and says I shouldn't install xp pro to it since it has another os on it, does that mean I should delete the partition before I install windows xp?
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

yes. after deleting the partition, make a new partition then do a quick format unless you want to do a full format.

Why is this happening?
So it formatted and copied the files, then it reboots to continue installation and I get this fatal error every time:
Fatal Error
A component windows needs to continue setup cannot be installed.
Error:
Installation Failed: D:/I386/asms. Error Message: The parameter is incorrect.
I burned the .iso using imageburn and it said it verified right.
Some fixes on the net (guessing game):
Try another burning program
Try another burned CD or DVD
Take out 1 DIMM of RAM
Try another CD or DVD-ROM Drive

Okay the install went through when I put it in my DVD-ROM Drive.
So everything is okay now except I can't connect to the internet, my computer won't acknowledge the connection.
I'm going to call Verizon up 2morrow and fix that.
I'm also hoping that my slave drive is recognized when I hook it up tomorrow also.
Thanks very much everyone for the help, now I gotta get my comp back to normal.
EDIT
My friend wants me to get internet. In my device manager my Ethernet Controller is a yellow question mark with a hazard sign, so he is going to attempt to find the drivers for me.
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

It fixed my SM Bus problem.
Nevermind it is onboard, the ethernet plugs into a golden section in the back that is on my mobo.
My cards go like this from right to left:
AGP ATI Graphics Card
Sound Card
56k card (has 2 phone plugs on the back)
USB 2.0 4 port PCI card

It is a little golden hub next to the graphics card attached to the mobo.
It has a steady orange light on the right and a green light is blinking on the left of it.
I am guessing I might have to call hp about this, not sure if verizon could help me.
I can take a picture of it all tomorrow if it helps.

I'm online using a labtop downstairs, the desktop doesn't recognize that I have an internet connection, so I don't think I run any online scans.
In option 2 I only see graphics drivers.
Are there any programs or anything I could install that could attempt to find the drivers for me?
I might be able to find them on my computer restore discs.
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Success!!
A unified driver set for nvidia worked, so now I am connected to the internet again.
I'm going to do some windows updating and take an image of my computer, thanks!
Only thing that may go wrong now is my slave drive.
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Yes you are right, my slave came back perfectly.
I got drivers for everything that needed them and I am working on getting my computer back to normal.
I have took 1 image with macrium reflect so far and plan to take another one later today after I run full scans with:
AVG
Malwarebytes
Ad-aware
Also I can now stream anime to my xbox and wii without having to put my computer into safe mode, its great.
Sadly my friend caught some virus on his computer yesterday because he was running IE with no virus or malware programs. He had like 5 rundll's going and it blocked him from installig anti-virus and malware programs. He managed to install AVG free but the scanner only scanned like 1 file and said scan complete.
He has the windows xp home sticker on his tower with his product key, so we are going to burn him an xp home sp3 cd.
Hopefully this is the end of all our computer problems. I hope macrium reflect is a godsend.

He tried to install and it said the product key was invalid. I assume this is because the windows xp home sp3 must have been the wrong version (oem, retail, etc.) for his product key.
Product keys don't expire do they?
Like if you use it once, you can never use it again.
I'm not sure how they work.
Using this guide here, it must be OEM:
