Hey Afterdawn!

Recently had a problem with one of my computers (had a power cut then it wouldnt boot, no life at all) my bro said he he will fix ti when he gets home but hes currently on the opposite side of the world in Australia >.>

So in the meantime ive had to set an older rig up and to be honest.. it sucks. I had to format and reinstall everything but the wireless adapter drivers dont seem to be working (i have installed the drivers). So ive had to connect a ethernet cable from the pc to my wireless router. Ive done this many times and the connection is perfect. No disconnections and a constant quick speed. But for some unknown reason im losing connection while surfing the web.. Sometimes it takes me up to an hour just to connect to the web. I cant seem to understand why its acting like this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Additionally, if i play an mmorpg, i can sometimes take me a while to sign in etc. but one im in i dont lose connection what-so-ever. Only seems to happen while im browsing the web..

Any help would be much appreciated as this computer is well stressing me lol >.<

Not sure if this is the right place but i know u guys/girls have talent ;)
Thanks in Advance!

I would try firefox...if it works, then you know the issue is with internet explorer. Most people are better off with firefox anyway.

Ive tried both FF and IE and neither work.

When disconnecting..

IE fails to load the page im attempting to reach and presents me with the "this page cannot be found" message.

FF crashes. When i click restore it says something like "oops. how embarresing. it appears we have lost your page but we will try and retrieve it as soon as possible"

So im guessing its either the pc or ethernet cable. I will try testing the ethernet cable on my GFs laptop tomorrow morning and reply with the results.
I will also try google chrome and see how that responds

- Thanks

It actually sounds like a dns setting problem.. try opendns and see if that cures it.

http://www.opendns.com/

no need to sign up.. just put the dns server ip's in the relevant boxes on your router of whatever you use then restart your network hardware..

I agree. Once you find a site it seems like you don't have any difficulty staying on it, but it's when moving from one site to a different one that your system appears to get lost. That would point to a router/DNS problem.

I have a couple of DNS servers that work perfect all the time:

4.2.2.2
4.2.2.3
4.2.2.4
(I think it keeps going like that, but I don't know how far)
