Hi, fist let me say that I have had problems in the past and AD always helps me out if I can't get it, so thank you. Second, I want to let you know I am computer technician so hopefully I get the general troubleshooting out of the way.

The Hard drive in question is a Seagate GoFlex 500GB Portable HDD. It worked for quite awhile but was stuttering when trying to play movies from it so I disconnected it from the PC I use at work (Windows XP) and connected it to my computer at home (Windows 7) and when I connected it I got a message saying that it needed to be scanned to fix errors so I ran chkdsk and it finished fine. I then went in to My Computer to check on the files on the HDD but the device name and capacity does not show up. When I try and open the drive it freezes. I checked disk management and it does not load, it just hangs. I checked in device manager and it shows up so I try uninstalling it but it just hangs, never finishing the uninstall. So I try disabling it, and it does the same. Since I could not access the drive directly, I ran the command "ckdsk x: /R" to find and fix bad sectors but it did nothing, it just ends up hanging and never checking anything.

Is there anything else I can do? I appreciate whatever help you can give me.
