My cousin came to me today with his HP DV6000 saying it hasn't booted up in over a year. I was curious about what was causing his PC to continually boot up to a blue screen, and here is the quarrel..
I formatted the hard drive through the Windows Vista installation CD. When I try to change the Unallocated drive space to a New Partition, I receive an error message saying no drive can be located. So I tried installing Windows XP on the same computer, with the same error message, only this one actually said, "there may be a problem with your SATA." At this point I can already tell the HDD is shot and needs to be replaced, go figure Best Buy was the place that sold it to him used.
