fujitsu STORAGEBIRD 35EV840 not recognised???

I have had a fujitsu STORAGEBIRD 35EV840 for some time now and has worked fine up until i removed it to go on holiday with. After returning home i plugged it in using the usual usb port and my PC has failed to aknowledge thats it's even there??? I have tried using another of the usb ports and a spare lead but to no avail??? can anyone help please?
