Hello I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1000Gbytes. the drive was not dropped it makes some clicking sounds when its powering this drive was installed internally in my computer as a slave and there are only pictures in it. I've taken the hard drive to be checked but i was told that I need to take it to Data Recovery Lab. I checked a few places and they are charging me between 1500-2500 just to get a my pictures out..

Do you guys know of any places that can recover my data for a fair price.

thanks

Data recovery is very expensive and often not 100% successful.
You should of backed up the drive to an external or internal drive using a third party software.

It sounds like it has the click of death.

I really have no other suggestions for you.

Maybe somebody else will chime in to give you a hand.

99% of the time if the logic board gets corrupted/fried the harddrive fails to power or fails to initialize Protocols(slow bios boot,no harddrive shown in bios).

if its just doing a fast pase clicking noise when your turn on the computer that's normally fine but should be wary. now if its going click-clonk click-clonk click-clonk no amount of software recovery will help you as your read/write heads of crashed on the platter and the more you attempt to operate the drive in this manner the further gone the data will be.

if your Data isn't worth $1000's then just throw it away.

sledge hammer + busted HDD = great stress relief.
