I just got a new high def monitor which suggested reolution setting is 1920 X 1080 as we know this makes the desktop, icons, fonts and windows much smaller. How can I reset the size of my fonts and icons a bit larger while still using the reolution settings?

Sorry almost forgot I have Windows XP SP3.

Thanls all.

Right click your desktop and select properties and get the 'settings' tab. There should be 'advanced' or similar which allows selection of a High-DPI setting. Your PC will need to be restarted for this to take effect.

The size of windows icons is roughly the same on all PC monitors with the same setting. If your new monitor has shrunk your icons then you weren't using your old monitor in its correct resolution (unless it was a CRT)

If you have a scroll mouse you can

Ctrl-mouse wheel to increase/decrease the font/icon size.

Isn't that Vista and Windows 7 only?

Nah, it's XP for sure, and I believe Win2K supports it as well.

Hmmmmm. I am using it on XP as I write this. I set it up for my parents whose sight is failing. I'm doing it right now as I write this reply. I can scroll it so big that the reply box overruns the screen and so small that I can't read it.

WinXP SP3 and IE7.

Really.

It's for web browsers only, not the desktop!
The desktop only works this way in Vista and Windows 7.
