Ok, so, wanted a new case, new processor. Got everything transferred, same mobo, same drives, same graphics cards. When I'd gotten everything back in working order, it was running XP-64 and everything was peachy. All three of my SATA HDDs were fine. I formatted my 150gb 10000rpm drive and did a fresh install of win 7 ultimate WITHOUT my 500gb drives in the case.
Got the drives back in and only one of the storage drives is working properly?one of them is telling me ?access denied? and under My Computer, it's listed as having 0kb available. If I go into Storage Management, it shows up, says it's healthy, says what the capacity is and how much of it is available. Under type, where all the other drives are listed as ?basic,? the HDD I can't access is listed as ?dynamic.? Huh? The file systems are all labeled as NTFS. Reinstalled Win 7 with all the HDDs in place this time, no change.
So, took the drive to work, plugged it is via SATA cables to the mobo as well as with a USB kit on two different emachines running xp and 7. Both times the OS could tell there was something new plugged in, but it wouldn't show up under My Computer or Device Manager, and it would show up as a blank space under Disc Management.
The HDD in question is a WD 500gb caviar black, an older one with, like, a 2006 build. All three HDDs show up in the BIOS. I need the data off of it in the worst way.
