Can someone help me pick a hardrive 1.5 or 2 TB for storage for me. I like the idea of a quiet low power drive, Speed doesn't matter so I'm thinking a western digital green is a good choice. Am I right? On Tiger.com I see 2 different 1.5 western digital greens both for $110 each. One has 32 MB cach and the other one has 64 MB cach. Which is better? I know more cach is better but is one more reliable than the other? I understand these drives use 7400rpm and I'd rather go 5400 rpm if it meant better reliabillity or lower power consumption. The 2TB western green for $180 seems overpriced to me with cost per Gig rising steeply. I"d be inclined to wait if it was thought there would be some cheaper 2 TB drives soon available. I've heard speak about platter density. Should this factor in my decision? Am I right that a 1.5 TB drive failure rate will not be as bad as a 2 TB drive? I understand these western digital green drives use 4kB sectors, instead of the 512byte standard sector size. Since I'm using XP I have to do some tweaking to make it work right? Is it as easy as setting a jumper prior to install? I don't plan on partitioning the drive at all. I will be using it exclusively to hold my 1080p mkv movies averaging 10 GB per file if someone want's to tell me an optimum method to configure this drive I'd be appreciative.
