I'm building a new computer, and I want to know how I will install Windows. If I install my old HD into my new build, copy all the files in C:(old drive) to the new drive, say, D:, could I reboot, change the boot drive, and have it work? Will the files be there to run Windows off the new drive?
probably no .. doesn't work like that unless you really know what you are doing.. like rebuilding the mbr and changing the kernel flags for different hardware... and even then usually no.. different chipsets lacking drivers.
It's not specifically a dell disk though....it's a reinstall disk "For distribution with a Dell PC." It's only service pack 1, but I'll update. It's not even specific to one PC.
