I would try using a wired connection first; sometimes wifi cards just don't work very well. Also, there should be a built-in wifi adapter; you should not need a wifi card.
my laptops don't have a built in wifi card, so i use a wifi n card.it runs good on my home network, but when used at the libbray or any where else it slows right down the petium4 laptop does.
killer, that laptop doesn't come with builtin wireless as i checked dell site, it is optional.
pspndsps3, does the p3 do the same thing as the p4 at the library as both are alright at home? i presume the p3 has wireless card, what make & model is that wireless card & that of the p4 if not the same? other possibility is that the library network is so loaded that each pc only gets a fraction of the signal download that they don't get at home.
