Im planning on getting a new case. And it seems that the current case I have has a non-removable I/O panel plate or I/O shield (as in it is built in with the case). So when I transfer my mobo to the new case, how would i work this? Will there be no panel plate to put on it?

is it possible that the panel plate is attached to the mobo?
do i need to get a new mobo too? i would like to avoid that though

current pc: Acer Aspire x1200
series: u1510a

Here is a pic. It looks as though the I/O shield is completely built into the case

You have a proprietary case, which was not designed to accomodate any mobo other than the one it was designed for.

If you're trying to put your old mobo in a new case, unless you can find a backplate that is close, you are SOL.

Alternately, you could take a piece of plexiglass and fashion a custom I/O plate for your new case.

If you're trying to put a new mobo into your existing, you're probably more SOL unless you can find a mobo that has the same backplane layout as your case.

You should try to find out who made your mobo. Odds are that the manufacturer has another mobo that uses the same laytou and you can use that backplate.
