I installed my hard drive from my old XP computer into my new Win 7 computer. My problem is that the "My Documents" folder from the second hard drive isn't showing -- which has my most important folders. Any suggestions? Thx in advance...

BUT--the "my documents" folder isnt there in the new computer. if i put the drive back into the old computer, i CAN see that folder. cant figure why its not visible and there are no hidden folders. im thinking i may have to put drive back into old computer, create a folder and MOVE all the "my docs" contents to that new folder. any other suggestions? thanks in advance! 19:22EST

not there! strange, huh? i can't call it. i guess i may have to remove it from win7, place it back in xp casing, create new folder under "c" and move contents over. i just can't figure out why i can't see it. Thanks again, 0221EST

Got a similar problem
Processor of old XP PC blew couple of months ago, so got myself brand new Win 7 pc straight after. Then installed my old XP hard drive into new pc. I can see all the folders and files, but seem to be unable to open, copy or delete any of the files on old hard drive. Keeps giving me crap about administrative permission.
Ive changed these setting for every folder and file im trying to work with, but still nothing
Is there something im missing?

i think the problem is that you're not the relative owner of the folder, did you own all the folders that you have? i think the problem is all windows, you have to click in the folder (right click) properties, then you go to "security" and you have to own the folder in "Advanced options" i don't know if that correct but i really think that should be problem...
Let's See what we got here... i don't really expect anything more than a few minutes wasted...
