How can I make my Laptop to boot through the LAN Boot?.

Is an old laptop that doesn't have a internal optical drive it use to work a few days ago,but suddenly i got a black screen after BIOS with the Operative System not found message on it.I'm using a PC CARD DVD-ROM but my BIOS won't let me boot from it.I did a bootable flash drive but the system won't read it, because in the BIOS there's not such thing as USB Boot.

I got 4 options:1.ATAPI CD-ROM Drive 2.-Hard Drive 3.-Removable Devides (LS-120 or FDD)4.-Boot to LAN.

How do i make my other PC a server and lunch O/S in the host (Laptop),which program should i use (freeware)?

My Desktop has XP Home Edition SP3 and I have a Netgear Router that would do, but how?

I change the booting sequence to LAN Boot and i got some configuration settings, like:

Boot method: PXE,TCP/IP,Netware and RPL, each one has sub-commands but i don't want to switch them?. Please give me some advise or information about how to make bootable from a source.
Luckily i backup some of my info a couple of week ago.
Thank you and I'll gladly appreciate your help!!
The always newbie.
I hope i'm writing in the right place and not "hijacking" someones thread.

because it doesn't show external usb drive doesn't mean you can't try an external optical drive. i had that problem with a laptop that it's internal optical drive wouldn't read my disks so i used my external optical drive to boot off the xp cd after i changed in the bios the boot order to optical drive 1st.

I already try to change the booting sequence and plug the USB flash drive to the USB ports as well as with and adapter PS/2 from the mouse input, thinking that the plug and play from BIOS would recognize it, but nothing so far. The option that you give me is if i haved an external optical drive which i don't have.I got out the HDD(Travelstar)from the laptop i'm going to research if i can plug it into my Desktop to see if the drive is O.K.
But can i load some commands or files into it so the Laptop could at least startup in DOS?(in case the hdd is in good condition).
I'm open to any options or suggestions that won't need to spend money like enclosures or external optical drives.
I'm out of W... if you know what i mean.
Thank you again.
