I have a problem with a laptop that I'm trying to recycle. I got a new hard drive for it and I also have an original Windows XP Disk but my problem comes in when I try to install the operating system. Let me explain the path that it goes.
I turn on the pc, and it goes into the BIOS screen and the hard drive will show in the bios as well as the other hardware. So I inset the Windows XP cd and it loads the drivers and other stuff into the memory and then when that's done, it says that it is ready to install Windows XP, Then I press enter and a screen comes up that says that it can not find a hard drive to install to.
So my questions is,, do I need to install or run something else so I can get past that pesky screen and load windows ???? Or do I need to format it,,and im not sure how to do that from where it is even if that was to help.
So,,,Thats where I am now and would really like to get this up and running, Oh,,,I guess the make and model will be helpful as well,,huh.
It's an IBM Thinkpad Z61M.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need further information to help understand my problem.
