After getting my new Processor installed [AMD II X4 955 3.2Ghz Black Edtion) I am having problem with it, it only runs at 800Mhz[Cool n' Quiet disabled].

So the first thing that I thought was I am either having outdated BIOS or my Motherboard doesn't support it.

So I am asking for the help for this issue, is there a way to find the latest BIOS anywhere? Help appreciated.

so this is a packard bell computer? seeing as they're no longer available in the US, where are you located? how old is the computer? is there a make and model number for the motherboard?

The stock processor is only 2.2GHz.

It's quite possible that the mobo doesn't Memory speed beyond 800MHz based on the stock CPU.

Sorry to ask, but why did you upgrade the CPU without checking this FIRST????

The memory speeds should not limit the CPU speed...nor should the low hyperstransport speed.

Can you manualy set the speed? If so, does it just not post? If so, it may be a power issue. Your old chip used only 95W while the new one uses 125W.

Based on the packard bell website, you already have the latest (and only) bios version. I tried looking at the manual, but they do not have an english version, even though the website is (mostly) english.

Yeah, I thought getting a new motherboard would be the best option.

Though I wonder which motherboard is the best suited for my computer.

The computer this is bit over one year old.

UK is the area/region.

Haven't checked the motherboard's model yet(Not possible at time being)

ASrock's AOD790GX/128 isn't bad at all and comes with a slew of ocing ability's it also has support for 1066 memory and 125 watt processor line up. the only down side is that its only x8 in crossfire.

I feel the need to recommend the MSI K9A2 Platinum. Knowing your country/budget would help mind.

I would not recomend ASrock or MSI to anyone (well maybe my worst enemy). Your current board is a piece of junk, but that is no reason to get another piece of junk. The mainboard technicaly should work, and the board isn't that old...you should at least give it a chance.

if i had the cash to get a DFI lanparty board i would, ASrock and MSI both make great stable entry level boards.
