For the past few days i've been getting trouble with my pc.
Sometimes i'll turn it on & it won't boot up & i'll need to go into the BIOS & change all the settings.
It seems everytime i turn the pc off at the main socket, it forgets all the settings in the BIOS & i need to set them again before it boots up.
I think its a CMOS battery issue, but that's not the main problem just now.

Well, yesterday when i turned the computer on it said the power connector wasn't connected to the GFX card (even though it was) & obviously refused to boot up.
Sometimes a simple press of the reset button sorts this & other times i need to fiddle about with the power connector to the card & even plug in the other connector instead.

Eventually the pc booted up to desktop & everything seemed fine & then i got a BSOD.
It said something about Bad Pool Caller or something.
I got a BSOD not long before this as well that said something like IRQ Less Or Equal.
I ended up getting it to boot up & was on the pc for a few hours last night & shut it down from the computer & left it until today...

When i turned on the pc today i got the usual message about the power connector not being plugged into the card, so i stripped the pc out & cleaned it all out & it eventually let me into the BIOS to change the settings & it booted up.

This time with a major difference.
The screen resolution was reset to 800x600 & in device manager there were 2 errors.
There was a yellow exclamation mark next to the GFX card & also one next to an SCSI & RAID Controller.

When i double click the one next to the GFX card it says:-
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

When i double click the one next to the SCSI & RAID Controller it says:-
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.
The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Does anyone have any idea whats up or what i should try ?
I'm seriously getting sick of this PC lark..

Device Manager
GFX & RAID Error

Here's my specs in case needed & thanks in advance for any help i receive :)

First thing I'd swap would be the power supply. Low voltage on the 12V rail could cause your symptoms.

Be aware that if the video car has a power problem it could be sucking down everything else. Be prepared to have a spare on hand (you can get a cheap one for troubleshooting purposes. Buy off eBay or at a store that takes "No questions asked" returns.

Another thing to keep in mind is how many other appliances are using the same power point & being on at the same time,if it's just the comp & monitor then yep power supply like dailun said however there are some things you can try,if you have dual hdd's & the graphic card uses the same plug on that line, switch it for the dvd player instead, strange i know however it worked for me on one of mine, check plug ends are not loose you may have to recrimp use a pair on needle nose pliers or a strong set of tweezers or a small screw driver (the plug ends i mean are the same as the ide hdd power connector)

Well, i use a 4 plug adaptor & the only think on it barring the PC, is the speakers plug.
I'll need to check the wiring, but i think on one line there's 2 moles power connectors & one for the graphics card & i link these upto 2 hard drives & obvious;y the GFX card.
On the other line there is a molex power & GFX connector along with a sata connector & these connect to my sata drive, dvd burner & the other connector for the GFX card doesn't get used.

As for swapping the power supply i think that's a last resort as i'm going to build a new up to date system in the next few weeks & this PC will just go to the gf.
But i checked the 12v rail & it says 16A.

Thanks :)

Between the age of the system and the quality of the mainboard, it is very hard to pinpoint any one problem, as there are multiple possible causes.

ddp - yes, that mainboard has onboard video; it is one of those old micro-pcs with a sub-micro-atx mainboard: http://www.shuttle.eu/_archive/older/en/fb65.htm

dougal79 - I would see if it works OK with the onboard video. No...that isn't true; I would pull the capacitors and the more expensive connectors for my parts bins, and then toss the POS into the garbage...but my GF already has a very nice laptop.
