Fixing an old friends PC and I noticed the system time twice reset to January 1st 2002 (or thereabouts). The mobo is a socket 939 MS-7025 and MSI's LiveUpdate 5 utility wasn't able to successfully flash the BIOS to update it.

I ordered a couple CR2032 batteries thinking the existing one had probably died as the PC was unplugged for months in her closet.

I probably should have left it there, but I used MSI's utility to make a floppy boot disk with a flash .exe and a BIOS update on it. The system stalled just short of the A: command prompt until I went into the disk's autoexec and omitted the final couple commands.

When I got there, I ran the flash .exe but made the noob mistake of not writing down the filename for the BIOS upgrade file on the disk. I couldn't remember it and had to reboot. As soon as I did, power goes to the system but no POST or display and no signs of booting in any way. I tried swapping the memory and putting just one stick (with both diff sticks) into the primary DIMM.

The mobo battery hasn't arrived yet and I've also ordered a replacement BIOS ROM chip for the particular model.

Apart from unplugging the PSU from the mobo and discharging the power button a few times, is there anything I should do before replacing the battery and ROM chip?
