SATA Card Makes Computer Turn Off/Not Turn On

I bought this SATA card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...ntent-_-text-_-

and whenever I put it into the PCI slot, the computer shuts off and won't turn back on. When I remove the SATA card, I can turn it back on. I'm running Windows XP Professional 32-Bit. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! IT WILL BE VERY HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

You should not be sliding the card into the system while it is running; you probably did some major damage doing that.

You may have damaged the pci slot like KillerBug said . If you have more than one pci slot try this . Turn Off the computer and remove the power cable from the power supply . Then with your free hand hold a solid metal part of the case to ground yourself out . Then install the sata card into a pci slot . Plug the power cable back in then turn on the pc .

...If RastaDave's advise does not work, it probably means you killed the card...you might have killed the socket, all the sockets, the card, or a combination of these.
