I never seem to get the easy problems. I've lately had a slew of difficulties with my computer and eventually gave up and resorted to reformatting.

Two months later I'm in this scenario:

While sitting in teamspeak for awhile, I speak through my headset and discover that everyone has problems hearing me (bear in mind it was FINE an hour prior). I can hear them just fine but they report only hearing static. Turns out my mic is muted. I unmute it, restart and make sure im plugged in properly with my headset. When I log back into teamspeak, not only can I no longer talk PERIOD, but now I cannot hear, and when I attempt to open the Volume Control, I receive the error "There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to yadda yadda yadda"

After looking into the problem I discover that:

1. my SB Live! 24 bit cannot start via the control panel (error code 10}
2. I cannot fix it. They few programs I found for it are either not reporting a problem with the drivers or not working at all. The troubleshooter said the most likely problem was with the drivers. The SB website had NOTHING I could use to help, and after a massive amount of time looking around, I could find nothing that would help me with this problem.

I saw a thread on this forum from 2005 with a link. The person who had the problem said that link helped him, and yet that link lead to a thread that was no longer existing. I would greatly appreciate anyone's help, this problem is perplexing.

I would remove & reinstall the drivers, then reboot with all audio plugs removed from the card...and reinsert them one by one after windows starts back up...or at least that is what I have to do once in a while with my Sound Blaster Audigy SE.

Yeah the SB Lives do this sometimes. You can try a fresh software install, otherwise perhaps a third party software like the daniel_k drivers.

I found that installing the software tended to cause these problems; I just manually install the drivers from device manager (and don't let windows update do any driver updates).

you can also try Kx audio. no EAX support for obvious reasons. but the nicely tuned bass and Mixer system more than make up for it.

Thanks for the help guys, but now I've had more problems mount on top of this...maybe they coincide...

I'm getting an error at start up saying my voltage on my computer is low (I originally got it in 05-06), and for some strange reason my mouse is acting...well...downright sluggish.

A friend suggested it may be the power supply, but he isn't the most experienced with computers. Does anyone have some sage advice on if all three of these problems may coincide with this solution?

your help is greatly appreciated!

If you are getting a low voltage error, it is either the power supply or the mainboard. Bad power=bad signals=bad problems.

I've no idea how your PC is reporting a voltage low issue, as usually, this isn't monitored.
Can you tell us the exact error? It might be referring to the CMOS Battery Voltage, which is a different problem entirely.

Logically, it would either be the source (an actual problem in the power supply), or the device making the reading (the mainboard). Then again, it could be an occasional short somewhere in some device...if there is one thing I have learned over the years, it is that almost any symptom can be caused by almost any problem...a defective mouse can crash a PC...and that is no exaggeration.

Well aware, I've been there. A faulty PS/2 keyboard has caused me lockups.
