I'm sure these types of threads happen all the time so sorry for keeping it up lol but I'm trying to pick a laptop to buy. I'm not a dumbass when it comes to this stuff but I would like a second opinion.

I'm going to college and I will be majoring in architectural engineering, or some other sort of engineering maybe, so I will be using software such as autocad. I'm guessing I wont be using it until my second or third year though so I need this computer to not be outdated by then.

Im trying to pick between an HP HDX16t and a Sony VAIO FW. Here are the specs:

Sony VAIO FW VGN-FW490 Configure-to-Order:

* No additional Photo Editing Software
* 16.4" widescreen with XBRITE-ECO? LCD technology (1600x900)
* Quickbooks Simple Start 2009
* 400GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [5400 rpm]
* No Fresh Start
* Microsoft® Works
* Standard Capacity Battery
* Norton Internet Security (30 Day Trial)
* WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n) with integrated Bluetooth® technology
* ATI Mobility Radeon? HD4650 graphics card with 512MB vRAM-good for games and movies
* No Engraving
* Intel® Core? 2 Duo Processor T9900 (3.06GHz)
* No additional Video Editing Software
* CD/DVD playback/burning
* Black
* Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit
* 4GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GBx2)

HP HDX16t Premium Series customizable Notebook PC :

* Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
* Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9900 (3.06 GHz, 6 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
* FREE Upgrade to 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
* FREE Upgrade to 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive from 250GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
* 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
* 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display (1366x768)
* LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
* Webcam + Fingerprint Reader with HP Imprint Finish (Fluid)
* Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth
* No TV Tuner w/remote control
* HP Color Matching Keyboard
* 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
* No Productivity Software
* HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I figured I'd need a good processor which could handle the programs and still be good in a few years but maybe I'm going overboard? I don't know. These might be a little out of my budget because I totally forgot how much tax would add to it so I might have to downgrade a little but well see.

Please help I want to be sure and pick the right one. I'm not opposed to other suggestions either. Thanks!!!
