Hi all. So I was using my USB to boot linux on my Windows computer and I also had important data on it. I was using it mostly for data saving/accessing and hadn't used it as a boot (just had the boot files incase I ever needed to boot into linux). Finally the time had come and I booted into linux (it worked). After finishing using linux I reset the computer and then wanted to access my data on the USB from windows. Here is where the problem comes in, now I can't access my USB at all (I can't even use it as a boot usb). When I go to "my computer," the USB doesn't show up. In disk manager the USB shows up as two disks that are "Not initialized." And the funny thing is that the sum of both those disk's memory equals to about 830GB when the USB is 16GB. As soon as I get into "Disk Management" I get prompted with a "Initialize Disk" window, so I set both to MBR and click "OK" but then it says: "The media is write protected." for both the disks. Is there any way to recover my data? I have tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing it but with no positive outcome. Anyone? Thank you...

Yes, a 16Gb flash drive... I will try one of the listed programs. Do you recommend one specifically?

So I have tried a couple of those programs but was not able to recover any data. Would it be easier to format the USB then try to recover formatted data?

So I tried, the last five programs on the list with no positive results. I scanned both the disks that my USB shows up as. One of the scans took about 10 hours. Using PC Inspector File Recovery, the two (USB) drives show up as physical drives but when I scan, the program does not find logical drives.

Please tell me you have a plan B?

Currently scanning one of the drives with the ontrack program (gonna leave it to scan the second drive over night). The program recognizes the usb as a hard disk but not a usb device (so i had to choose hard-drive and not memory-device).

Hi again. So no results with ontrack programs. The disks showed up but no volumes. I scanned the small disk for volumes but none were to be found. I scanned half (quick scanning half of it took about 8 hours.) the bigger disk and none were to be found... I booted with Ubunutu shoved my usb in and used dmesg and got the following, hopefully it will be helpful.
