(Feel free to move the thread to the correct location)-moderator(s). Basically when ever I encrypt a western digital drive I never keep the long drawn out number key and just use a password that I have memorized and use it all the time. My problem is I just formatted my os drive (2nd time) ocz 128gb ssd. Unfortunately both of my WD element USB drives seem to have failed ? I have a forum question both in Toms-hardware and at the WD forums and even though there are some very good advise not much is helping so I am asking here for any addition info. I also have a black-X toaster that I use and have always used wd sata drives.
What it appears to me is possibly a microsoft update has happened and has screwed me up big time. My elements were my main data back-ups and the toaster I had movies on them. My main pc components are listed on the bottom. bought from new-egg yr(s) ago. One of my elements are bit encryption but I am unable to put in the password cause it is saying I do not have it installed ? which is wrong cause I am using windows 7 64bit w 12/GB ram and the other element I just can't see anything on it. When I plug them in windows says I need to format them to use it but remember these are almost filled and are my main back-ups. I have used "EaseUS Partition Master 9.2.2" and "UNFORMAT to try to recover any lost data but nothing seems to work. All drives PASS using the "WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics" and they do show up in the "Computer Management,Disc Management"
as healthy active drives.

edit: so I almost think I might as well as to a hard back-up data on some cds ?

Thanks I tried that but they both read the same . almost like new drives in that they are asking me to format them.
