I have brought a new webcam today, a pretty cheap Adomax AP-3211. I am running Windows XP SP2, and figured I'd have no problems installing it, however it's been a nightmare. It came with a CD that has the drivers on, but once installed, Windows won't recognize that the webcam is connected. I also went to the manufacturers site to get the latest driver, but the same result applies. The USB usually picks up that there's a connection, but when I try to assign a driver from the CD or the downloaded driver, it always comes up "Cannot connect hardware as failed to find software", despite selecting the .exe and folder / CD with the driver in there.
I've tried going into device manager and I believe it's just showing up as USB Device, with a yellow question mark next to it and a "!" over it. It also lists the "Code 28" error in properties. I can't update the driver for it this way either. Same result.
As of right now, my webcam isn't working what-so-ever, and despite the blue light being on and connected, nothing. Is this a USB connection problem? Is there anything I can do to sort this out? I feel I've tried everything to no avail and I'm sure it can't be broken as I got it today brand new. Kinda wish I went for the Logitech, maybe. Thanks in advance for any reply.
